Create your Google Business Profile

About 20 minutes, plus a 60-second video you record on the spot · computer, with your phone beside you
Not yet tapped through on a live screen

You’ll need

your real-estate Gmail, your cell, your headshot — and a business card or name badge with RE/MAX One on it, plus your licence and a door key, for the verification video

When someone googles your name, this is the box with your photo, phone and reviews on the right. It's also where your review link comes from — every closing ends with a review ask, and this is the link. Verification is the step that loses people: Google no longer posts a code to most agents, it asks you to film a short video on the spot. Read that step before you start so you aren't caught out halfway through.

  1. On a computer, go to https://business.google.com signed in as your real-estate Gmail — not your personal one. Click Create your profile.

If instead you seeyou land on an existing profile's dashboard: you're signed in as the wrong Google account. Switch accounts (your photo, top right) and come back.

  2. Business name: your name followed by , REALTOR® - RE/MAX One. Click Next.

  3. Business category: type Real estate agent and pick it. Next.

  4. “Do you want to add a location customers can visit?” → No. You'll list a service area instead.

You should now seethis keeps your home address off your public listing — clients see the towns you serve, not where you live. It does not mean Google never asks for the address: you still give it one, and verification is done against it. Read the verification step before you decide which address to use.

  5. Service area: type each town you work and pick it. Next.

  6. Phone: your cell. Website: your Blinq card link (or your Zillow profile link). Next.

  7. Verify — read this before you start, it is the step that loses people. For an agent with no storefront, Google now almost always asks for a video, not a postcard. Do not count on a code in the mail.

You should now seea prompt to record one continuous, unedited take of 60–120 seconds — you cannot stop, cut or upload something you filmed earlier. In it Google wants to see three things:
    1. The location — your house number, a street sign, or a nearby landmark that matches the address you entered.
    2. That you control it — you, on camera, unlocking the front door with a key, or unlocking and starting a branded vehicle.
    3. That the business is real — anything branded with your name and RE/MAX One held up to the lens: business cards, a name badge, a sign rider, your licence, a piece of office letterhead.
It does not need to look good. One take, phone in hand, done.
If instead you seeyou are refused: the usual reasons are that the address on your profile doesn't match what's visible in the video, you used a PO box or a virtual office, or nothing on camera tied you to the business. Fix the mismatch and re-record — you get more than one try.

  8. Before you record, put three things within reach: a business card or name badge with your name and RE/MAX One on it, your licence, and the key to whatever door you're going to open. Filming with nothing to hold up is the single most common way this gets rejected.

If instead you seeyou have no branded material at all yet — items 1.9 (business cards) and 1.2 (headshot) come first. Do those, then come back. A refused verification is slower to undo than a week's wait.
  9. While it's pending: click Edit profile → add your headshot as the logo, your bio in the description, and business hours (Open 24 hours is fine for an agent). You can fill the profile in before it's verified — it just isn't public yet.

  10. Start the video. You are recording continuously — no cuts, no edits — and Google wants to see, in one take: the outside of the building with a street sign or number, you unlocking the door with a key, and your branded material.

You should now seea recording screen with a timer and, usually, a checklist of what Google wants shown.

  11. Once verified (Google emails you), open your profile → Ask for reviews → copy the link. That's your review link — put it on your Blinq card (guide 1.8) and in the Trello comment.

Ask for reviews with the link

Finish line

You’re done whenGoogle says the profile is verified and you have the review link.

Now do thisTrello card → phase 1 → tick 1.15 and paste the review link in a comment. (Tick it when verification comes through, not before.)
